Strong school foundations create stronger opportunities for students. Through Foundation in a Box, we help school districts establish or revitalize their education foundations by providing governance templates, organizational guidance, and proven best practices for sustainable leadership, fundraising, and long-term impact.
Dolly Parton Imagination Library
The Lake County ROE Foundation proudly sponsors the Dolly Parton Imagination Library across Lake County, providing a free, age-appropriate book every month to every enrolled child from birth until their fifth birthday, regardless of family income. In partnership with local libraries, school districts, and early childhood organizations, this initiative builds early literacy skills, fosters a lifelong love of reading, and helps ensure children enter kindergarten ready to learn.
Fill The Gap
When the abrupt closure of a local post-secondary program left hundreds of students facing uncertainty, the Foundation responded quickly. Through the generosity of local foundations and community partners, we provided tuition assistance that impacted more than 500 students attending 103 higher education institutions, helping them continue their educational journeys with dignity and confidence. By meeting immediate financial needs with care and respect, Fill the Gap ensures students can remain focused on achieving their educational goals rather than worrying about unexpected barriers.

Next Step Grants help students successfully transition from high school to their next chapter, whether that means college, career training, apprenticeships, military service, or entering the workforce. Available to Lake County public high schools, the program prioritizes schools serving the highest concentrations of low-income students to help ensure resources reach those with the greatest need. By eliminating the application process, Next Step Grants provide equitable, accessible support that empowers schools to prepare students for success beyond graduation.
